Kylie confirms new 'Aphrodite'album

Pint-sized pop princess Kylie Minogue has announced her new album Aphrodite will be available in July.

It’s Minogue’s eleventh studio album, and will see her celebrate her dance-floor roots, featuring songwriters including Stuart Price, Calvin Harris, Jake Shears, Nerina Pallot, Keane’s Tim Rice-Oxley and Minogue herself.

Named after the Greek goddess of love, beauty and sexuality, Aphrodite will be released on Monday 5 July. The album’s artwork was designed by her gay best friend and longtime creative director William Baker.

Its first single, called All The Lovers [previewed on the clip below] is out in late June. “The single was one of the last tracks to be written for the album,” explains Minogue.

“As I was recording it I knew that All The Lovers had to be the first single; it sums up the euphoria of the album perfectly. It gives me goose-bumps, so I’m really excited to hear what everyone thinks of it.”

Minogue’s official fan website Kylie.com crashed tonight as she made her album announcement. “aaahhhhhhhh…you’ve overloaded the system!!! arrgggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!,” the excited singer told her fans via Twitter.

no robbie, kylie actually runs her own twitter. and sometimes it gives you an alarming insight into her thought processes (or lack thereof). still excited about the new album though! it's always interesting to see where she goes next.

Sheesh... it's just an album announcement! You'd think she'd solved world hunger the way it was hyped up... Ok, I'm kinda excited, but still...
