United Nations appoints LGBT watchdog in historic vote

In a narrow but historic win, the United Nations Human Rights Council today voted in favour of creating an LGBT watchdog that will report on violence and discrimination committed against people around the world on the basis of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.
