Mika - Is The World Big Enough For Two?

Some people are idiots – honestly. Thanks to some unknown Belgian reggae singer, UK pop sensation Mika may be forced to change his name.

Belgium’s Mica Penniman says that she registered her name back in the eighties and that before Mika came along, she was the only one out there with the name.

“I was called Mika before him and have registered the name. Even though his real name is Mica, I think he should change it.”

Not only that, but she also wants him to pay her damages. How embarrassing.

According to The Sun, the reggae artist, who’s released five albums in her home country, isn’t happy about the UK popstar’s success. A source told the paper, “There’s only enough room for one Mika in the pop world – and she was here first.”

It may sound ludicrous, but bands have in the past been forced to change their names. Westlife were first known as Westside, and according to Sydney Morning Herald, 2001 Popstars’ runners-up Liberty had to change their moniker to Liberty X.

Sounds like Mica’s just jealous. Mika’s first album sold over three million copies – her five albums haven’t even come close. Maybe the most successful person should get the keep the name? After all she may be the first, but she’s certainly not the most known.
