Jodie Foster Comes Out... Well, Kind Of

Jodie Foster’s always been rumoured to be gay. She was even featured on the cover of Out magazine earlier this year under the headline The Glass Closet, Why Gay Stars Won’t Come Out.

This week Foster received the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at the 16th annual Women In Entertainment Breakfast in Beverly Hills and as she gave her acceptance speech she thanked “my beautiful Cydney, who sticks with me through all the rotten and the bliss.”

Many believe that she’s in fact talking about Cydney Bernard, a woman who is widely believed to be her partner.

“I feel fragile… unsure, struggling to figure it all out, trying to get there even though I’m not sure where there is,” Foster said during her speech. “I’ve been working in this business for 42 years and there’s no way you can do that and not be as nutty as a fruitcake.”

It’s amazing that Jodie Foster, who recently turned 45, has managed to keep her private life private after such a long public career.

According to LA Daily News, Foster keeps her feet on the ground by treating the job like any other.

“The one way that I’ve been able to make sense of it is to say that my job is something I do from 9 in the morning to 6 at night or whatever it is and my life starts after that.”

Hey its almost 2008. You'd think in this day and age there would be no need for an actor/actress to hide their sexuality.......come out already!!! Love her work.....extremely talented actress.

Is she really just trying to keep her private life private? Or did all the not-wanting-to-talk-about-my-life actually lead to more media attention? I guess the US is a big country, with a large obsessively conservative audience. Which is why some people would argue it's better to be known as the "very private" Jodie than Foster the lezzo!
