Flavours Of Alanis

Canadian songstress Alanis Morissette is set to release her fifth studio album Flavors of Entanglement in April and despite her recent split with long time boyfriend and Blade hunk, Ryan Reynolds, has told media it will include some killer dance tunes.

Alanis has been in the studio with producer Guy Sigsworth, who has previously worked with Madonna and Björk, since her 2005 greatest hits package The Collection. Since then she has been on an indefinite hiatus from music, only surfacing early last year to release an hilarious cover of the Black Eyes Peas’ My Humps on YouTube in full melancholic style. It has been thirteen years since Morissette unleashed her angst ridden debut Jagged Little Pill and she’s set to cover much the same territory on Flavors of Entanglement as she has said that much of the material will be based on her split with Reynolds, who is currently dating Scarlett Johansson.

Alanis has already performed a lot of the material, such as unravelling one of her new songs Not As We on a recent episode of House and another song Underneath had a music video premiere at the Elevate Film Festival in Los Angeles. Critics who have heard limited grabs from the album say they are sure it is without a doubt a career highlight, comparing it to Madonna’s Ray Of Light. The collaboration with Sigsworth has, in Morissette’s eyes, been a meeting of minds and she told Rolling Stone that “I think there’s more technological aspects to it on a sonic level than ever before.”

Fresh from The Freemasons doing a recent thumping cover of her 1998 hit Uninvited, Alanis claims “I love to dance so there’s a lot of loops and beats on this record where you can dance your face off.”

All you Supposed Former Infatuation Junkies out there better put on your dancing shoes as a 2008 tour is likely.
