Sour Spice
In an attempt to save face, the Spice Girls have released a video message to all their fans apologising for ending their so called ‘world tour’ early.
“There’s been a lot of rubbish in the media lately,” says Mel C, “and we want you to hear it from the horse’s mouth.” The girls go on to say that they had never expected such demand for their tour – they thought they’d be playing one gig in each city as originally planned, but as they sold out more and more shows and had to extend their stays in America and the UK, time has run out.
“The kids have to go back to school,” says Posh, “and we always said our families would come first.” The video ends with a mock fight to prove that the girls infact haven’t ended the tour early because of backstage bickering. Yeah, really convincing.
It seems the anti-Spice wave is sweeping around the globe just as quickly as the initial tour news did. Fans have expressed their disgust and disappointment in a number of online fan forums and anti-Spice Girls groups are sprouting on Facebook.
A picture of the girls is also circulating on the internet – it shows the girls holding up a sign that reads “We Lie”.
SpiceNews.com – a fan site that’s been running since 1998, has announced that they’ll be shutting down.
“I can’t support people who I don’t respect, and I don’t respect people who plainly screw over and lie to their fans, that being the Spice Girls,” said the site’s administrator.
My, how quickly things change.
