Gay Pash Gets Fans Steamed Up
CBS TV in America is currently dealing with a flood of demands from viewers of their daytime soap As The World Turns. Fans are actually demanding that the two gay characters on the show – Luke and Noah, kiss more often.
A website has been set up to keep track of how much time elapses between the pair kissing on screen. They first locked lips in August last year, but according to BBC News there has been no kissing at Christmas, nor was there any on Valentine’s Day.
There was kissing at Christmas, but it happened offscreen. The camera panned away to a shot of dangling mistletoe. Talk about tacky. Fans are not impressed.
While fans have applauded the show for airing what’s being considered the first gay kiss on an American soap, they’re also saying that the show shouldn’t have started something they couldn’t maintain.
A spokesperson from the series has said that the mistletoe shot was a “creative decision” and CBS’ head of daytime says that she’s all for developing the couple’s relationship even further.
“If this means there is a natural progression to the physical relationship, then I would support it,” she said.
Could Luke and Noah be steaming up the box in the coming months? It remains to be seen.
Not a bad effort for a show that’s been on American TV since 1956.
