McCain Doesn't Agree With Gay Marriage

Ellen DeGeneres is becoming quite the gay crusader. She recently sat down with John McCain, who may well end up becoming America’s next President, and discussed the issue of same-sex marriage.

In pure Ellen fashion she managed to sound sane and likeable throughout her discussion, while McCain failed to truly articulate why he was against gay marriage.

“I just believe in the unique status of marriage between man and woman. And I know that we have a respectful disagreement on that issue,” stammered McCain.

“Women just got the right to vote in 1920. Blacks didn’t have the right to vote till 1870. It just feels like there’s this old way of thinking [that] we are not all the same. We are all the same people. All of us. You’re no different than I am. Our love is the same,” said Ellen. “To me what [being against gay marriage but being for civil unions] feels like… when someone says well you can sit there, but you just can’t sit there. That’s what it sounds like to me. It doesn’t feel inclusive. It feels isolated. It feels like we aren’t owed the same things and the same wording.”

McCain again failed to articulate himself, simply pointing out that Ellen and himself would have to agree to disagree.
