American soap As The World Turns has been at the centre of controversy of late – first they had the first gay male pash on daytime soap TV, then they turned the heat down, so much so that the fans demanded more gay pashing. Then the conservatives started complaining! Sometimes you’re damned if you do, and damned if you don’t.
Gay fans will be very pleased with the soap’s new addition. According to AfterElton, Cyndi Lauper will be making an appearance on the soap in connection with the two gay characters Luke and Noah.
“While I’m sworn to secrecy on the details, I can say that Lauper will be performing a few songs at Yo’s, the Oakdale dive bar that for this particular occasion has been gussied up for a little celebration known as ‘Gay Pride’.”
As you would no doubt know, Cyndi Lauper was the headliner of Mardi Gras this year, and has long been a outspoken advocate of gay rights. Last year she toured America with the True Colors tour – a festival devoted to ending homophobia. It was such a success that she’s doing it again. It’s touring America right now.
