Oprah's Still On Top
For the second consecutive year, talk show queen Oprah Winfrey, 54, has topped the Forbes celebrity ‘Power List’, as ranked by Forbes Magazine.
The title is decided on the basis of the celebrity’s earnings over a year but also takes into consideration the amount of major magazine covers of the celebrity, press clippings, web references and the amount of broadcast mentions.
Unsurprisingly, Oprah’s gift for the gab and ever-expanding empire raked in a mammoth $290.42 million from June 2007 to June 2008 – beating golfer heavyweight, Tiger Woods with his paled by comparison $121.45 million.
Hollywood hottie Johnny Depp came in at number six, with his earnings totalling $72 million; and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie show us that even though they’re busy adopting nations a child at a time, their celebrity prowess is as strong as ever. Pitt rounded off the top ten with earnings of $20 million and thanks to ongoing media coverage Jolie came in at number three despite earning less than her hubby – $14.79 million.
Madonna, Elton John, Tom Cruise and The Rolling Stones didn’t make the final cut, this year dropping off the top 10 list into celebrity oblivion.
