Fall Out Boy Out-ed?

The man with the golden publicist, Mr Pete Wentz, has given gay magazine Out a stellar front cover headline by declaring “Yeah, I am a fag!”

The bass guitarist for chart rockers Fall Out Boy is expecting a child with poppet wife Ashlee Simpson. In the cover story, he is philosophical about the term ‘fag’. Like, it doesn’t actually mean he’s a fag, y’see?

“Whenever you say that homophobia is stupid, you just get called gay,” Wentz told the mag. “There is a sense of self-empowerment or recapturing who you are by people calling you ‘fag,’ and being like, ‘Yeah, I am a fag.’ Even though you’re not. What does somebody respond?”

“When I said that I make out with dudes, there was a slight sense of sexual rebellion in that,” he continued. “And I probably even made it a bigger deal than it was.” He also revealed his apprehension about borrowing bits of gay culture. “If I was gay and I saw people playing with it, being ambiguous, I don’t really know how I would feel.”
