Cage Fight Ignites Passions
Folks in the American city of Arkansas got the shock of their lives when they recently turned up to a cage fighting event called Blue Collar Brawlin’. Instead of the “hot chicks”, cold $1 beer and “hardcore fights” they were promised, they got two male wrestlers who stripped to their underwear and started making out with each other.
The men are believed to be actors, and the orchestrator is thought to be controversial comedian Sacha Baron Cohen.
It didn’t take long for the 1,600 strong crowd to snap, throwing beer and chairs at the caged men, who escaped the throng through a tunnel, specially set aside for their exit.
The event organisers had invited the police along, telling them that one of the characters would be pulling a planted audience member into the ring, and the two men would end up in a “romantic embrace”. The police thought it was pretty funny, and they liked feeling that they were in on the joke, but they didn’t realise how far it would go.
“They said it was to essentially poke fun at wrestling – two guys rolling around on the floor, all sweaty,” said Adam Holland, a Fort Smith police sergeant. “It set the crowd off lobbing beers. They had beers in plastic cups. Those things can get some distance on them actually.”
The crowd’s reaction – no doubt priceless – was filmed, and those present all signed waivers on their way in. It took almost an hour to clear the angry mob from the venue.
A spokesperson from the Four States Fair Grounds, where the stunt was helld, said that they were deceived, and had no idea of what the event organisers had planned.
Sacha Baron Cohen hasn’t owned up to the stunt as yet. He’s currently in America filming his next movie, as Bruno, the gayer than gay Austrian fashion reporter.
