Marry Me, Margaret!
Move over Tori Spelling. Margaret Cho has recently been deputised by the city of San Francisco, which means she now has the authority to perform gay marriages there. Actually, she’s already started – she married two couples during San Francisco gay pride week. Like we needed more reasons to love her.
“It’s a very empowering thing to be able to preside over these ceremonies,” Margaret told E! News, “We’ve been working on this for such a long time.”
Cho has been a champion for gay marriages for years and she’s never been afraid to use her comedy to agitate. “I always wonder why Republicans hate gay marriage, because they certainly don’t hate gay prostitutes,” said Margaret in her 2005 show Assassin. “When I argue with conservatives about gay marriage they always say to me ‘Well, all you care about is the gay agenda!’ What is the Gay Agenda? Is it assless wedding gowns?”
Margaret is now seeking to be deputised in West Hollywood as well, so that she can preside over marriages in Los Angeles. At this rate Margaret may become to California, what Elvis impersonators are to Vegas.
When it comes to her wedding attire, Margaret says that she likes to keep it serious, for a change. “I’m all about the suits — supersnug ones. And then, you know, little pearl earrings for a little bit of class.”
