Meet Pregnant Man's New Baby
It was one of the most hotly debated, high profile pregnancies ever – a transgender man carrying a baby. It sparked debates around the globe about gender, gay parenting, prejudice and where we draw lines in the sand.
When ‘pregnant man’ Thomas Beatie wrote about his pregnancy in US gay magazine The Advocate, he probably wasn’t aware of just how many ripples it would cause.
However, while the pregnancy itself happened very much in front of the cameras, the actual delivery of the baby went by virtually unseen. When Beatie gave birth earlier this month, he booked into a hospital under a false name. It was days before the media had even realised the birth had happened.
Now, weeks later, images of Thomas and baby Susan Juliette have finally surfaced, appearing this week on Good Morning America.
