Cops On The Beat
Police from Sussex in the UK have asked residents to get involved in operation ‘Beat Sweep’ – by directing them to a hardcore gay porn website.
The misdirection was due to a typo on a flyer sent out by the police station, instead of directing residents to www.sussex.police.uk the flyer read www.sussexpolice.co.uk. And while the differences between the two may look minor, the websites are worlds apart.
“It certainly wasn’t what I had been expecting, and I’m just glad I got there first before my kids decided to take a look!” said local resident Lucy Daley.
“I can’t believe this leaflet even got to the stage of being printed and posted through people’s doors. Did nobody check it at any stage of the process?”
While the flyer, reportedly delivered to hundreds of homes, encourages residents to help tackle “crime and grime”, the website listed seems only to condone it. The pornographic link advertises hardcore porn, policemen strippers, explicit gay movies, brothels and ‘sexy adult costumes’ – oh my.
Police from the station have been aware of their ‘sister’ site for some time, “It’s very embarrassing. Hopefully not too many people will try to visit the site. We’re looking at ways of preventing this type of thing happening in the future,” said one police spokesperson.
