Portia And Ellen Get Hitched
It’s official – Ellen DeGeneres, 50 and Portia de Rossi, 35 have married at a private, intimate ceremony at their Beverly Hills home on Saturday night. According to US Magazine there were only 19 guests, and Portia’s mother Margaret flew in from Australia to attend.
In true Ellen style, she wore an all white pant, shirt and vest ensemble. Meanwhile, Portia wore a backless halterneck dress with a plunging neckline and cream bodice, and a pale pink floor length skirt. Ellen says that she will show some of the wedding on her show.
But not everyone is happy about the union. Given that the legalisation of gay marriage in California was decided by the courts, conservatives in the state have been pushing to get the issue voted on by the people, in the hopes of having it banned. They have been successful in getting it onto the ballot form for the upcoming presidential election, which takes place November 4. Voters will be asked to support or oppose Proposition 8, which states that “only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognised in California”.
