Hallmark Greeting Cards - Public Enemy Number One

Hallmark have started to cash in on gay marriage, providing greeting cards to mark the occasion. But two men in tuxedos on the front of greeting cards is getting up the nose of the group Concerned Women For America. And that in itself is concerning.

A Christian women’s group, Concerned Women For America have Hallmark’s new gay range in their sights as the next big social evil to tackle. Along with gay marriage, the women condemn abortion, pornography and strangely enough, that bastion of evil – the UN.

“Hallmark is jeopardising its brand as a family-friendly company,” CWA’s president Wendy Wright recently told Fox News. “Customers used to be able to trust Hallmark to produce quality products that were safe for all ages.

“Now parents will need to steer their kids from Hallmark’s section of the greeting card aisle and away from its previously heart-warming movies for fear that they too will push homosexual messages,” Wright said.

While obviously concerned for Hallmark’s sales figures, Janice Crouse, Director and Senior Fellow of CWA’s research unit, said companies like Hallmark had a public responsibility to protect ‘wholesome’ American culture, rather than encouraging what they’re calling “the latest fad generated by homosexual interest groups.”

Hallmark responded to the public policy group’s claims simply by stating that the additions to their range came about as a response to consumer demand, not political pressure from ‘homosexual interest groups’.

“Hallmark should be protecting American culture from those forces that would destroy the family,” said Crouse.

If only she realised that we are creating families, just ones that are nothing like her own.
