Kylie Musical Secrets Revealed

Last month Kathy Lette revealed that there’s a West End Kylie musical waiting in the wings. Now an industry source close to the project has revealed a few juicy tidbits about what we can expect.

“At this stage it’s going to be called I Should Be So Lucky and the two main characters are called Scott and Charlene, believe it or not!” says our source. “The show follows the ups and downs of the pair’s tumultuous relationship. Essentially they fall out of love after a number of years, and then fall back in love again. The songs will be woven into the plot much like they were in Mamma Mia.”

In light of this, one can already speculate how some moments in the show may pan out, and what songs might be used.

Scott and Charlene fall in love:
Love At First Sight, Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.

Scott and Charlene break up:
Hand On Your Heart, Please Stay.

Scott and Charlene re-discover the single life:

“The show will be quite camp, as you’d expect, with drag queens and the like,” our source says.

While Kylie easily sells out stadiums around the world these days, one has to wonder if a show full of Kylie songs, but no Kylie herself, will pack them in night after night. A good plot with some good twists will be the crucial difference between musical theatre and karaoke. UK newspaper The Guardian recently made a few left of field, and very tongue-in-cheek suggestions.

“With a Kylie spin any number of improbable plot devices could appear, including organ donation (Hand On Your Heart), electrical malfunction (Shocked) and contact lenses (In Your Eyes).”
