Jude Law All Frocked Up
A new film, Rage, from English film director and screenwriter, Sally Potter has been selected for competition at the Berlin Film Festival this February and features the one and only Jude Law in drag.
Rage is a tragicomedy seen through the eyes of a boy who becomes a player in a high fashion murder investigation when interviews for his website start to spiral into catastrophe. Law plays a celebrity supermodel called “Minx” whose allure and youth is deteriorating and the character gradually unravels as the story unfolds.
On Potter’s website it is reported that it was a courageous decision for Law to accept the role of Minx. “The more he became a ‘she’, coiffed and made-up – the more naked was his performance. There was great strength in his willingness to make himself vulnerable. It was an extraordinarily intense part of the shoot.”
The film, essentially a commentary on the commodification of beauty for profit, also stars some other stellar performers including, Dame Judi Dench and Dianne Wiest.
The screening at the festival will be the World Premiere so no word yet on when the film will reach our shores. Fingers crossed it will be soon.
