The Parents’ Television Council in America has Fox show Family Guy in their sights. They’re filing an indecency complaint with the Federal Communications Commission over an episode that screened in the US on March 8 and featured, according to the Council’s press release, “bestiality, orgies and babies eating sperm.”

Tim Winter, spokesperson for the Council, said: “Fox treated viewers to everything from an ‘eleven-way’ gay orgy to baby Stewie eating a bowl of cereal with horse sperm instead of milk… if that isn’t enough, the show’s leading character is also shown fantasising about his wife and moaning while a horse licks his bare behind. Clearly, the explicit content was not isolated to one instance in one segment of the show, it permeated the entire program.”

The Council is urging their members to file complaints too. They allege that they have about 1.3 million people on their books.

It’s not the first time the Council has been offended by the series. During a 2008 interview with The Advocate, the show’s creator Seth MacFarlane spoke frankly about the group.

“Oh, yeah. That’s like getting hate mail from Hitler. They’re literally terrible human beings. I’ve read their newsletter, I’ve visited their website, and they’re just rotten to the core. For an organisation that prides itself on Christian values – I mean, I’m an atheist, so what do I know? – they spend their entire day hating people. They can all suck my dick as far as I’m concerned.”

MacFarlane went on to confirm that the character of Stewie – the baby – is gay.

“He originally began as this diabolical villain, but then we delved into the idea of his confused sexuality. We all feel that Stewie is almost certainly gay, and he’s in the process of figuring it out for himself. We haven’t ever really locked into it because we get a lot of good jokes from both sides, but we treat him oftentimes as if we were writing a gay character… We’ve had letters from homophobic fans in the past, and I sort of relish the idea of saying, ‘Yeah, well, you know what? Your favourite character, Stewie, is gay.’”

The Council have targeted other shows in the past including Nip/Tuck, That 70s Show, Friends, The Simpsons, Dexter and believe it or not, they even found something to complain about with Gilmore Girls.
