Idol Comes Out!

Adam Lambert, the emo styled, eyeliner wearing runner up in this recent season of American Idol ended months of speculation about his sexuality by coming out as gay. Just weeks after the finale of American Idol, Lambert, 26, came out publicly in an interview with Rolling Stone, saying that he didn’t think there would be any big shocks for anyone.

“I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I’m gay,” Lambert said.

Lambert had people guessing ever since he first auditioned for the number #1 hit US show. Discussion has raged about whether or not coming out earlier would have affected his chances of success on the show. Lambert’s style swung between emo-goth and glam rock, which many fans believe was a bit of a ‘give away’. Some believe that he would have been as popular as ever regardless of when he came out.

Lambert also revealed in Rolling Stone that he has secured a record contract and his debut album will be released at the end the year.

I kinda thought he might be gay. He's definitely cool. I'm a huge fan of Lambert. I can't wait to see (and hear) what he's gonna do.

To quote an old Pet Shop Boys song, "It must be obvious!" Seriously.. coming out is certainly not easy for everyone, and I believe passionately that no one should be pressured to do so unless and until they are ready. Hopefully Adam is doing this because he is ready and not because others expect him to. Either way, good on him!

He was on US Idol last year, I thought he was out from the beginning? Maybe it was my gaydar...or the bloody obvious, he was too brilliant to be straight. I voted here in the US for Adam. we adored him. He's Freddie Mercury reborn. Some sappy little Christian guy one, it wasn't a surprise either, if it even LOOKS like a gay person is gonna win something all the mad Christian butt heads rally up millions of votes so they don't. It's their way of blocking gay people. They send out the cry to the masses of God Botherers here, even if these people NEVER watch Idol, they vote to make the Christian win, not the GAY person.
