La Roux singer Elly Jackson says ‘Thanks for the bras,’ but wants fans to keep their clothes on and enjoy the music. Oh, and she’s not a ‘raging lesbian.’
Jackson reportedly told Heat magazine that she expected to have a huge lesbian following, but that she’s suprised girls – straight and gay – are throwing themselves at her.
“One girl in Toronto stood there for ages with her boobs out. Everyone just thinks I’m a raging lesbian and I want to see everyone’s boobs,” Jackson told Heat, “Sorry, I’m not.”
The 21-year-old half of the synth-pop duo said in a separate interview that it wasn’t just gay girls, but straight ones that were making a fuss over the bright, young red-head.
“Looking at the kind of women you see on TV, I wouldn’t think people would find someone like me attractive, but a lot of girls come up to me in clubs and say things like, ‘I’ve got a boyfriend, but I’m attracted to you.’ That’s insane,” Jackson told contactmusic.com.
Jackson says you don’t need to take your shirt of to be a good listener.
“I knew [the gay following] was going to happen. I’m not bothered by it. It was obvious that was what a lot of my fan base would be,” Jackson told Heat. “I don’t care who comes to the gigs or who likes the music, as long as it’s for the music and not because they fancy you. That’s a shit reason to come to a gig.”
La Roux is in Australia for Parklife with sideshows in most cities.
