Anti-Gay Goalie Publishes Book
Polish goalkeeper Arek Onyszko has been fired as goalkeepers with Danish football CLub FC Midtjylland after publishing his autobiography, which contained homophobic comments and attacks on female sports writers.
As reported by Pinknews, Onyszko says that his Catholic beliefs are the reason behind his hatred of homosexuality, although the book’s title F**cking Polack doesn’t really hint at his supposedly holy disposition.
“I hate gays, I really do,” writes Onyszko, likening gays to ‘vomit’. “I think it’s fucking disgusting to hear them talk to each other as if they are girls. I can’t be in the same room as someone who’s gay. Look at them kissing each other – it’s sickening.”
In June this year Onyszko was fired from Odense football club OB after he was convicted of assaulting his ex-wife. He was sentenced to three months in prison, and was then signed by FC Midtjylland.
Jens Ørgaard, head of sport at FC Midtjylland, told the Copenhagen Post that it wasn’t the book’s content that got him fired. They’d asked him earlier in the year to put the book on hold so he could concentrate on his game.
“We felt we did the right thing in the summer when we offered Arek Onyszko a new chance after his conviction. He was punished and like everyone else needed help to get back on his feet again.
“But lately he has abused our trust… despite warnings, he continued to work on the book project and [FC Midtjylland] had no knowledge of its existence until now.”
Onyszko has reportedly been offered a place on another Danish team, the first division FC Frem.
