Lesbian Given Custody Over Christian Mother

A woman who says she is an ex-lesbian has had custody of her biological child revoked. The 7-year-old child is now in the custody of the woman’s former lesbian partner.

In what is being called a landmark decision, a judge in the US state of Virginia has granted Janet Jenkins legal custody over the 7-year-old daughter she raised with the girl’s biological mother, Lisa Miller.

In a court hearing judge Richard Cohen stated that due to Miller’s continued refusal to allow her former partner to see their child, he would now reverse custody rights.

From January 1 Jenkins will be the legal custodian of the former couple’s child, Isabella. Jenkins, who is still a lesbian, was said to be more willing than reformed-Christian Miller to co-operate with court orders and share visitation and access to their child.

According to website Proud Parenting, judge Cohen said that “In the long term, the change in custody will be in (Isabella’s) best interests as she will have the opportunity for maximum continuing physical and emotional contact with both parents.” Cohen also reportedly said there was no difference between the women in what they could provide for their child, but that Miller’s refusal to allow access sealed his decision.

Having been in a custody battle since 2003, Miller reportedly moved to Virginia from the former couple’s home in New Hampshire, where the legitimacy of same-sex relationships is not recognised.

Miller was reported saying on website LifeSiteNews.com, “We just keep on praying, and we don’t loose hope, and we look to the Lord for his mercy and his justice. I really, really believe that this case God is using to not only bring people to him, to Christ, but also to bring Christians to a better understanding that we need to take a stand for what is right and continue with that, with his help, and with his grace, because that’s the only way that I’ve been able to get through all of this.”

Obviously, god didn’t come through for Ms Miller on this one.
