You're Not Going To Heaven

Homosexual? Transsexual? Sorry, heaven won’t be reserving a space for you. At least, that’s what a leading Roman Catholic cardinal has said.

AFP reports that Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan has said that while homosexuality is seen as an “insult to God” as far as the Church is concerned, it doesn’t justify discrimination.

“Transsexuals and homosexuals will never enter the kingdom of heaven and it is not me who says this, but Saint Paul,” said the cardinal, as reported by the Ansa news agency.

“People are not born homosexual, they become homosexual, for different reasons: education issues or because they did not develop their own identity during adolescence. It may not be their fault, but acting against nature and the dignity of the human body is an insult to God,” he said.

Barragan then quoted a passage from the Bible to back up his claims.

“Homosexuality is therefore a sin, but this does not justify any form of discrimination. God alone has the right to judge,” the cardinal said.

“We on earth cannot condemn, and as human beings we all have the same rights.”

Cardinal Barragán has expressed strong opposition to abortion in the past, especially with regards to the RU-486 pill. Back in 2006 it was reported that the Cardinal was preparing a report for Pope Benedict which might state that using condoms are the lesser of two evils when one of the people is infected with AIDS. He later downplayed the statement, saying that he didn’t have the authority to give definitive doctrinal directives. This year the Pope said that the spread of AIDS “cannot be overcome by the distribution of prophylactics: on the contrary, they increase it.”

im sorry!!! but i believe as he said only "GOD" has the right to judge me and no one else, if religion fights for love there shouldnt be a two way issue for this circumstance!!!

'Acting against nature & the dignity of the human body' The Catholics throughout history have burnt women at the stake for the crime of 'witchery'. If torturing innocent women isn't acting against nature & the dignity of the human body, I'm afraid Catholicism knows not what dignity is. An act of sexual intimacy among two consenting adults embodies the very nature of G-d - communion, celebration, fellowship.

If Pope Benedict wanted to save a billion people world wide all he would have to do is endorse the use of condoms. Whilst your at it Benedick what about also endorsing needle exchanges through the Catholic Church. You want to be like your could all forgiving god then stop pontificating and do some real good in the world or SFU.

But its ok because that priest can still pray for forgiveness and enter the kingdom of god. Hmmmm

Hmmmm __________________ I had a conversation with a priest concerning child abuse in the church. He said that boys who endure sexual abuse at the hands of a priest bear the responsibilty of strengthening their Catholic faith in the face of such pain & when they 'receive the Holy Spirit' upon forgiving the priest who abused them; they are reserved a seat 'at the right hand of the Father'. I spat on him after he said that. Seriously, I did.

I like what the Tibetans do - chuck you up on the top of a mountain for the birds to eat you. Useful and environmentally friendly! I don't believe in heaven/hell....but if they do I'll be in hell. At least all my friends will be there, heaven must be mighty dull. Mum and I were in her studio the other day chatting and she pulls out a plastic contained "here's your grandpa! Well, half of him. It's weird, there's bit of bone in there with the ash....." Argh! I got a shock, but it's true, grandpa's gone, that stuff isn't him. We are only what other people remember of us, and that's enough for me.
