Boy George only won his freedom back in May this year, but now he’s hoping to be locked up again. Although this time he wants to enter the UK Celebrity Big Brother House. However, before he can be under Big Brother’s thumb, he needs permission from a High Court Judge.

The pop star, whose real name is George O’Dowd, is due to make a plea to a High Court judge in the hopes that he will be able to enter the house in January 2010. Given the tight deadline the case is being treated as “urgent”. In May O’Dowd was released early, after being sentenced to fifteen months in prison for unlawfully imprisoning an escort. He only served a quarter of his time, and now he’s tagged and subject to a curfew.

The Press Association reports that O’Dowd has already taken £200,000 to participate in the show, however if his probation conditions are not altered he may have to return the money.

Probation Service lawyers have argued that if O’Dowd is successful in entering the show, that could undermine public confidence in the criminal justice system, and could place the London Probation Service’s reputation at risk.

Update: Boy George will not be appearing on Celebrity Big Brother after a High Court judge dismissed his appeal. The idea had originally been rejected by the Probation Service who said his appearance would undermine public confidence in the justice system. He then appealed to the High Court, who in turn said no.

UK Celebrity Big Brother begins on January 3 and rumoured housemates include Jordan’s cross-dressing former boyfriend Alex Reid, Pamela Anderson and rapper MC Hammer.
