Can you imagine seeing a Manhunt advertisement during a football grand final? Well, that’s exactly what one gay personals site is planning to do in the U.S.
ManCrunch.com is a Canadian based website that’s looking to launch with a bang in North America. What better way to do that than target the 90 million viewers watching the Super Bowl, right?
“We thought 90 million men watch the Super Bowl and we target men,” spokesperson Dominic Friesen told the Star.
But CBS, the station that televises the big game February 7, has thrown a spanner in the works, telling ManCrunch that all advertising space has been sold.
Friesen and ManCrunch refuse to believe this and say that refusing their company advertising space is “a pure form of discrimination.” ManCrunch have asked to have their advertisement approved, just in case some space turns up, but CBS have failed to do that as well.
How much does a 30 second ad during Super Bowl cost? US$3 million, apparently, but Friesen says the far-reaching effect of the short-lived ad will have massive returns.
ManCrunch say they are now looking for other avenues to reach out to men in North America.
