Topp Twins set for Ski Week NZ
A pair of musical lesbian twins – two of New Zealand’s best-known and much-loved entertainers – are confirmed for a special show at Gay Ski Week NZ this September.
The Topp Twins celebrated 25 years in showbiz last year with a film doco sharing their story of coming out, political activism, battling breast cancer and wowing crowds with musical comedy greatness. The film won awards around the world and became New Zealand’s most popular doco movie ever released.
Mike Sanford, the organizer of the annual Gay Ski Week NZ, says he’s super-excited to have the girls booked to perform. “It’s always been a dream for us to have these Kiwi icons and national treasures be part of the awesome week,” he enthuses.
The twins are planning to hit the slopes during the week, which annually attracts hundreds of Aussies, Kiwis, Americans and other gay travelers to the appropriately-named Queenstown in the lower South Island, which is home to two of the country’s most popular skiing peaks.
Now in its eighth year, Gay Ski Week NZ features adventurous events on and off the slopes. A bowling night, Cowboy Dinner, DNA Pool Party and closing night White Out Party are all planned for 2010’s Ski Week, which gets underway on Saturday 4 September.
