A 7.1 magnitude earthquake has rocked the New Zealand city of Christchurch this morning, turning the CBD into something resembling a warzone.
The city swayed for a full two minutes, damaging several historic buildings and destroying many homes.
No fatalities have been confirmed so far, but local hospitals are overrun with patients dealing with minor to serious injuries.
The city’s drag diva stalwart Miss Mole was quick to tell her many friends on Facebook that she was OK after the shake.
“My poor city, you should see it,” the gay event hostess typed. “Everyone is safe and okay, but our city is in ruins!
“Life is strange. One minute I’m at a party, the next I’m in bed, next I’m running outta my unit as it’s crashing around… all in a few minutes.
“Life has changed. My best friends here are all okay – and that’s the main thing. But I’ll never forget running out of my house as it’s about to come down.”
The NZ Herald website is being regularly updated with news of the Christchurch quake.
