Talented out singer and actor Chris Colfer has picked up a coveted Golden Globe award for his role as Kurt on hit musical show Glee.
In his acceptance speech, the gracious 20-year-old had a message for bullied teens everywhere. “But mostly importantly [thanks] to all the amazing kids that watch our show and that our show celebrates and are constantly told ‘no’ by people and environments and bullies at school, that they can’t be who they are or can’t have what they want because of who they are. Screw that, kids!”
Chris Colfer’s acceptance speech is shown below.
At the glittering ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Glee was also awarded ‘Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical’.
The Kids Are Alright, a critically-acclaimed movie drama about a lesbian couple with teenage children, took the award for ‘Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical’, and its star Annette Bening was awarded ‘Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical.’
