Who’d have thought that some good can actually come out of those crazies from the Westboro Baptist Church?
Comedian Lisa Lampanelli vowed to donate $1,000 to Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) for every crazy member of Fred Phelp’s notorious church who turned up to protest at her show in Topeka, Kansas.
The Advocate that 44 protesters turned up to spew their hate and in turn earned $44,000 for America’s oldest HIV/AIDS charity.“We are grateful for Lisa Lampanelli’s kindness and courage to fight homophobia,” says Marjorie Hill, CEO of GMHC. “She is holding up a mirror to bigotry and hatred, and reflecting back love and generosity.”
Before her show, the LGBT-friendly comedian went outside to greet the 44 protesters who were holding signs reading ‘God Hates Fag Enablers’, ‘God Hates America’, and ‘God Hates You’.

After her show, Lisa Lampanelli turned to Twitter to announce that she would be writing a check for $44,000 in the church’s name.
