What happens when you mix The Simpsons and one of the greatest musical icons of our time?
An on-screen lesbian kiss between Marge and Lady GaGa!
In the future episode Lisa Goes Gaga the singer drops into Springfield after learning that the fictional town is overflowing with low self-esteem and winds up trying to cheer up Lisa through the power of speech, song, and wait for it… a flash mob.
EW reports that the singer admits her visit to The Simpsons studios was “a little nerve-wracking.”
“I make music, but I don’t do voice-overs every day of the week, and their characters are so awesomely convincing and sincere and wild and funny, I had to remind myself constantly of the sincerity of the humour.
“That’s what I was trying to focus on, not putting on a character too much and really being as sincere as I could with the lines.”
So where does this rank in the artist’s long list of achievements? “I would say this is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done,” she remarks.
The episode will air during the show’s 23rd season and the world will be treated with a full-on animated GaGa extravaganza, with a GaGa train powered by a giant flame-shooting bustier, wardrobe changes, and a kiss with the world’s most famous animated mother Marge Simpson.
“I play a little bit of a slut,” Gaga adds. “The apple doesn’t fall far from my artistic tree.”
The show’s producer says they were impressed by her voice-acting range and ad-libbing skills, and were proud to include her in their long list of guest stars.
“Since the very beginning, I’ve always wanted to have on the most iconic personalities of our time, and she’s it,” says series creator Matt Groening.
The Hills, Gossip Girl and now The Simpsons… we can only wonder what TV show the pop star will appear on next.
