A two-girl crime wave has ended with a lesbian couple being arrested in Pennsylvania after they allegedly robbed 29 homes – and encountered a lion in a 30th.

Philly.com reports that the two young women (pictured) – both aged 19 – took “Whatever they could get their hands on” from neighbourhood homes.

The girls’ shopping list included: “Jewelry, video games, cameras, laptops, watches, $22,000 in cash, Euros, pesos, poker chips, $2 bills, toy ponies, toy cars, toilet paper, a .22-caliber revolver, a Sony PlayStation, a Nintendo Wii, knives, autographed baseballs, Crazy Glue, lubricated condoms, a Virgin Mary statue, sneakers, iPods and baby lotion.”

“This was their shopping spree,” summed up Police Capt. George Rhoades. “And they were getting more brazen. Almost every one was a daylight burglary.

“They said, ‘Who would suspect two women?’ That’s why they felt they could get away with it.”

But when they were sprung and called in for questioning, the teens both admitted to several crimes, but added that they couldn’t nick anything from one particular residential home, as they encountered a lion.

Local police are taking the claim seriously, and have visited the house in question – but no one was home. “If we find a lion it will be a bigger story than this,” the area’s police superintendent told local media.
