First there were purity rings, and now there’s Purity Bear. And we’re not talking about our leather-clad bear friends either.
This first video was a student collaboration for the Day of Purity campaign, and has proven enormously popular in recent weeks and YouTube users catch on to its unintentional creepy hilariousness.
The whole idea is to encourage teenagers to keep it in their pants until marriage, thus resulting in sexual and mental purity. Think of the Purity Bear with his borderline robotic voice as your conscience. If you have one.
Take a look…
The first video has now had 350,815 views, which has encouraged its organisers to recognise the demand for more from Purity Bear.
They released a second video this week – and the bear has a sassy new voice. Another couple have just finished a date and and the boy leans in for what looks like a kiss, and Purity Bear returns this time with a sex change and a voice reminiscent of Queen Latifah, warning about love… and pizza boxes.
At the end of the video, the viewer is then enlightened with some pretty “serious” statistics:
The organisers seem to think the campaign is working because the amount of views the original video got. They obviously haven’t heard of Rebecca Black and the viral backlashing meme culture on the cynical internet.
Will having sex effect your future? What about your soul?
I know for me personally if I hadn’t tried sex before marriage I probably would have lived out my very own Brokeback Mountain.
If same-sex marriage was legal in Australia would you have kept it in your pants until you walk down the aisle?
