Adele has once again won the top prize at an awards ceremony, taking home the Brit Award for British Album of the Year with her sophomore album 21.
After a home-coming performance of Rolling In The Deep the crowd favourite also took home the British Female Solo Artist award, presented to her by our own Kylie Minogue.
Famous for her cheeky sense of humour, Adele joked “You look stunning, I feel like a drag queen next to you!”
Take a look:
Cult boyband One Direction, however, triumphed over golden girl Adele in the fan voted category Single of the Year, for their track What Makes You Beautiful. They dedicated the award to their fans. “Everything that we do is for you, so this is yours.”
Rihanna also won big on the night, with her second consecutive International Female Solo Artist award, and performed her hit We Found Love. Sparking controversy in the past few days after releasing a remix of her single Birthday Cake with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, three years after their brutal breakup, Rihanna seemed to address her critics in her acceptance speech. “At times when I feel misunderstood, my fans remind me that it’s okay to be myself, so thank you for that.” The jury is still out.
Coldplay won their third British Group award, but their first since 2003. They opened the show with a booming rendition of their song Charlie Brown, a much better performance than their show at the Grammys.
Other performances on the night included Ed Sheeran, who won British Male Solo Artist, and Florence and the Machine. There were also on-screen tributes to the late Amy Winehouse and Whitney Houston.
