Canadian television station CHCH-TV has inadvertently aired three minutes of hardcore gay pornography during a morning news broadcast.

At 9.30am on Friday, the footage was broadcast to people watching in Ontario and Ottawa in homes, cafes and gyms.

The unscheduled change in broadcast was blamed on an error by the cable provider who had apparently been making repairs.

Mike Katrycz, vice-president of CHCH News, says: “In the splicing together, unfortunately, some inappropriate content went [on] air.”

“We discovered through quick investigation that it was not [our station], it was one of the cable companies that had patched it,” he adds. “There was nothing wrong with the transmission from [us]… it was a problem at one of the cable companies that was beyond our control.”

Revealed to be footage from HardTV.com’s broadcast of Lucas Entertainment’s After Hours, the video depicted businessmen engaging in hardcore sex – “unwinding after a hard day at the office.”

Brett Drysdale, HardTV general manager, said “All I can say is I’m glad it was a high production value, quality porn playing from a top-notch studio. I emailed the owner of Lucas Entertainment and he said it was hilarious.”

Although CHCH deny all involvement with the incident. Several apologies have been issued after the incident including an official apology on their website as well as on their Twitter and Facebook pages.

The station’s hashtag #chch was soon trending on Twitter, prompting equal amounts of outrage and humour.

This story today reminds us of an almost identical situation where a Jazz radio station aired five minutes of gay porn in the background of regular programming.
