Born 20 years ago as Kathyn Elizabeth Beatty, actors Warren Beatty and Annette Bening’s transgender son – now named Stephen – has been living as a male for six years.

Little has been seen from Stephen until now. He’s just recorded a video for transgender youth support and information website WeHappytrans.com, answering commonly-asked questions about being trans.

Smiling, the young man introduces himself as Stephen and describes himself as “a trans man, a faggy queen, a homosexual, a queer, a nerd fighter, a writer, an artist and a guy who needs a haircut.”

He adds: “I love that I’m able to do fem without being gendered as female. It’s rare that my gender is misread based on my fem presentation, which I really appreciate.

“My friends have accepted me, my peers who I’m lucky to have relationships with a lot of, ever since high school, when I came out and transitioned socially when I was 14 or so.”
