One half of the Wachowski duo who brought us The Matrix trilogy of movies has revealed her new look and identity is a promotional video for her latest project.
Looking enthusiastic and upbeat, Lana Wachowski who Hollywood knew a decade ago as Larry Wachowski, introduces herself in the video below, with bright red/pink hair and a modest grey dress.
The 47-year-old has said she’s been transitioning from male to female for several year – but this is the first time her new look has been seen publicly. Hollywood sources close to her indicate she’s been taking hormones to assist her transition and has been living as a woman for much of the time since divorcing ex-wife Thea Bloom in 2003.
The duo’s new film is Cloud Atlas, an adaptation of an acclaimed sci-fi novel by David Mitchell. It’s set to star Tom Hanks and Halle Berry as characters who swap names and genders in the story.

The film itself looks epic and amazing… it also stars Hugo Weaving, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Grant and Susan Sarandon.
The plot: “Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future.”
Cloud Atlas is out in October in the States – here’s the trailer:
