This group of adventurous LGBT skydivers say they’ve set a new world record – for the largest falling formation of gay skydivers ever.

At the Skydive Chicago event recently, 15 rainbow jumpers from around the world leapt out of a plane and linked up into a pattern of connected limbs.

Think that’s impressive? The current world record for largest free-fall formation is a pattern involving 400 people, set in Thailand in February 2006. Jumpers ejected from five planes, each exiting from an altitude of 25,000 feet – and the formation was held for 4.25 seconds.

I sky dived 4 times - with a rip cord - but the next scheduled dive was to be my first where I actually pulled my own rip cord, instead of a fake one - We were scheduled to take the jump on the Saturday, but it was big football game weekend - home coming - so we re-scheduled for the next weekend -
The plane crashed that Saturday, killing a bunch of instructors - never went back to sky dive again...

Re: the article - since anyone can skydive, why would the even be a "gay" sky diving category, much less a record? Did someone double check to make sure there wasn't a bisexual in the group? What would happen in one of the gays has straight sex? would the record be taken away?

I came close to doing it when I was young. Used to go up and sit at the back of the plane and watch them jump out.

Even started taking unofficial flying lessons but by time I was legally old enough to do it , I didnt it. More so cause I was off taking various courses.

Sometimes having a jump crossed my mind. Maybe when I'm old.

the first time I sky dived, I blacked out - the strap that connected to the plane and pulled out the rip cord came whipping across my neck and about knocked my helmet off - I had a really big red welt on my neck and shoulder but didn't remember or feel it until after the second jump because of the adrenaline. I had never been in an airplane before - it was crazy exciting. I was 18 and probably stoned - I spent the entire time at uni inhaling :-) the 70s are a bit of blur - although I remember the music...
