Big Brother’s Zach: Bring On The Boys

As the nation’s new favourite gay boy Zach spent his first day outside the Big Brother compound, having made it the furthest of any intruder ever on the series, he had one message to the gay community: “I am single!”

Speaking to Fairfax, the ridiculously nice Zach said he would have felt really guilty if he has walked away with the prize. “I’d been in there half the time she had.”

Being thrust into the televisions of millions of people every night, Zach said the he hoped his appearance on the show would be a reminder that the issues we are striving for all of the time are certainly far from over. “I hope that acceptance and equality are more recognisable. We’ve still got a long way to go. I mean, I can’t even get married yet, and I have full intentions of getting married.”

Perhaps the sweetest thing to come out of the show was the close relationship Zach had with his parents. When his mum whispered “We are so proud of you,” into his ear during the final show on Monday night, it was difficult for him to hold back the emotion.

In an online web-chat on the Big Brother website, Zach was asked if he thought his luck with boys was about to change? “It’s great to represent the gay community in a loud and camp way for once,” he said. “Thank god times are changing! Life in small country towns is a lot different to life in the city and if I have made people aware then that is awesome! Fingers crossed about the love life thing, I’m very unlucky when it comes to love, so hopefully I find him soon!”

Watch out boys.
