Justin Timberlake Cops It

Breakfast radio seems to be a breeding ground for stunts that go just that little bit too far. This time it’s Brisbane’s B105 brekky team who have overstepped the mark, by crank calling Justin Timberlake.

According to News.com.au, the high profile pop star was in his hotel room when Labrat, Camilla and Stav called him pretending to be Denis Handlin – who is CEO and chairman of Sony BMG Australia and NZ and also chairman of ARIA.

Justin answered with a “hello” and as soon as he found out it was the B105 crew, he hung up on them.

Handlin, who is one of the most powerful Aussie music moguls, is not impressed with how his name has been thrown about.

“The way they treated Justin and threw my name about was appalling,” Handlin told media. “Justin is an incredible artist and deserves much better than this. I expect the conduct will never be repeated with any other artist or record company head.”

Richard Barker, spokesperson for Austereo Brisbane said that the B105 team had taken things too far.

“It was an error of judgment and there are other ways to promote the station and using his name is not one of them.”

Justin Timberlake is currently touring Australia and will play Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth over the coming weeks.
