Olivia Newton-John For Mardi Gras
The rumour mill keeps on churning. According to a recent story on Perth site GayInWa.com.au, Olivia Newton-John is rumoured to be one of the headliners for next year’s Mardi Gras 30th Anniversary party.
They say that they the information was leaked to them from one of the people on the party sub-committee.
When it comes to Aussie gay icons, few come close to Olivia. In a recent interview with Instinct Magazine Olivia said, “Some say I’ve become a bit of an icon with gay audiences, and I don’t know the answer to why that is — but it may be because they’re so loyal, and I’ve been around a long time! Maybe it’s because they like my character in Grease? They also love Xanadu — I guess my movies probably have a lot to do with their extreme loyalty… but then there’s also the Physical video. That could have helped, too!”
Other names circulating are Dolly Parton and Kylie – although Kylie’s name comes up every year!
