Send A Letter To The Attorney General
Apart from summarising the 58 laws which discriminate against same-sex couples and their children, the website allows equality supporters to sign, seal and deliver their own personalised letter to the Federal Attorney-General, The Hon Robert McClelland MP. In less than thirty seconds personal details and stories are automatically integrated into a letter demanding equality in 58 federal laws in 2008.
Dozens of letters with personal stories have already been delivered to the Attorney-General. They have included stories of discrimination from people in same-sex relationships as long as three decades, letters demanding equality from heterosexual supporters of lesbians and gay men, and even a letter to the Attorney-General from a former classmate who supports equality. Couples have expressed dismay at discrimination in superannuation, taxation, health care entitlements, migration, workplace entitlements and family law.
Now is the time to encourage all your friends and family to send a letter through the website before the Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby meets the Attorney-General next week.
