interesting to note that many of those songs and/or artists have been mardi gras shows!

those not yet done certainly makes a handy shortlist for future events!

ahh, reminds my of my first mardi gras when i saw village people close the party with you can't stop the music. still the best wow factor for a show for me so far. though olivia comes in a close second. i missed kylie doing better the devil you know... and i was at that party. so gutted. ha.

here's to gay pride and all things gay! woop woop :)

I can understand trying to build the excitement or the anticipation but really from a user experience this is a little annoying...

can appreciate the need to have links (from you tube) but a long and winding road. Maybe, next time (assuming there is) do the list with the top ten and their repective clips below. Was great hear some of these songs (Joy radio) pitty they don't play more of this format.

This list makes me feel like I've stumbled into Stonewall! Or time warped back to Ceasars or the Imperial cellar bar. Most of this list is stating the bleeding obvious but are we so caught up in just living the typical stereotype that we all seem to perpetuate? I know the list asked for the GAYEST songs ever.. and there will be a many a drag-queen-in-training downloading frantically as we speak, but how about doing a vox pop on the the best gay songs that speak of our identity and/or our sexuality? Or a list of our best gay musicians/artists who are out there 'free, gay and happy' . I'd be interested in seeing what diversity our community will offer up. Come on! Let's celebrate being gay not being the gayest! If our only token CD release this Mardi Gras was the Joy FM Classics, although 'camp as tits' and a lot of fun to be had, it does leaving me asking 'is this all we have to offer? and is this what represents gay music?'

OMG, it amazes me how every time we try to celebrate anything in our community, everyone gets defensive about it not being an accurate representation etc etc.

yes camp is probably a more appropriate term than gay in this instance. but does it really matter?

lighten up people - and learn to not take yourselves so seriously. of course there is diversity out there -and thank god for that. but how about we learn to celebrate it all - even if it's not your cup of tea. to quote that old anti-homophobia campaign slogan - "what are you afraid of?"

Abba? So predictable,yeah,I guess so but I have to say that most of the songs selected have nothing to do with "gay Culture".From a sex/gender perspective,at best,the lyrics are mostly ambiguous. Why not more Pet Shop Boys songs??.At least they sing about "us"(Too cerebral for many of us perhaps?)...

How true, the list of songs is fun and I'm not putting it down, but there's so much more to music that represents our lives and why oh why do we never hear them at venues? There's some kick arse uplfting local dance acts around and they need to start being played in our bars & clubs!

I highly doubt that. If the "monkeys" from the Encyclopedia Britannica did the list they'd stop at the word "gayest" because they'd know a lawsuit would be heading their way.
