Same Same Gets Top 100 Gong
Good news folks! Last week we ranked number 82 in respected business magazine BRW’s list of ‘Top 100 Australian Web 2.0 Applications’. All of us here at Same Same are feeling as proud as punch! What’s more, two of our sister-sites also featured in the list – FasterLouder.com.au at #83 and InTheMix.com.au at #46 – making our publisher The Sound Alliance the only company to have more than one site included.
The list was compiled by Web 2.0 authority Ross Dawson, and it took into consideration aspects of a website’s user base, innovation and features, international success and more. “To have all three sites feature in the Top 100 is great recognition of the hard work and commitment that our team and contributors put into the 100% local content and development of our sites,” our Managing Director Neil Ackland remarked on the accolade.
So what exactly is Web 2.0 you may ask? Your guess is as good as ours! Definitions differ, but loosely it describes the trend in online technology and design that aims to enhance creativity, information sharing, and, most notably, collaboration among users. As Aaron Wallis, Same Same’s designer, once said, “There’s a whole industry of confused people out there. Web2.0 is such a dirty word, and has so many vague definitions roaming around about what is and isn’t a Web 2.0 site – and it all comes down to interpretation. If you think a jar of urine with a crucifix is art, then it’s art… If you think Same Same is Web 2.0, then it is.”
As Australia’s leading online entertainment publisher we’re honoured to be considered amongst the most cutting edge websites in the country. And of course huge thanks go out to all of you, particularly our edgy, talented and dedicated contributors, who are the backbone and beating heart of Same Same. We love you.
