Ian Thorpe About To Come Out?
He’s ditched the chlorine for cologne, the goggles for pearls and the speedos for designer knickers. Now Ian Thorpe has revealed that he’s in love.
He hasn’t told media who the person is, nor has he confirmed the gender, only referring to them in a gender neutral manner.
“There is [a special someone] but they don’t live in this country,” Thorpe told The Sunday Telegraph. He said the relationship was new and going smoothly.
So why all the secrecy? If he’s going to reveal that he’s in love, and that they don’t live in Australia, why couldn’t he have gone that one step further, and confirmed or denied the eternal question of his sexuality?
Mainstream Australian press ran a blind item recently saying that a well known Australian Olympian has a big announcement to make, but is waiting until after the Beijing Olympics to do it. Ian is travelling to the Beijing Olympics for sponsorship commitments. Could Ian be just about to step out of the closet?
