Big Nanna Wins Big Brother

When Big Brother began this year Terri was introduced as the Pauline Hanson loving grandmother. At 52 she was the oldest contestant on Australian Big Brother, but last night Terri proved that you can’t keep a good girl down.

After 85 days in the Big Brother compound, Terri’s win is well earned. The $250,000 in prize money is cash that she says she’ll use to retire early. Runners up Rory and Ben both took home shopping vouchers for their trouble.

It was an odd ending for Big Brother. Not only was it missing that Gretel magic, but the housemates were all forced to perform a disconcerting, choreographed routine to The Veronicas’ Untouched. And the memory lane montage of the last eight years, only served to remind us all of how good the show used to be.

Channel Ten, after much umming and ah-ing, has confirmed that it will not be returning in 2009, although Channel Nine are considering taking up the mantle.

Nine chief executive David Gyngell told The Australian earlier this month, “It’s run its race in its present form. I still think it has some life in it in another form. Channel Nine will be looking at it.”

The question is, will anyone else?
