Double Trouble
Remember the lesbian couple who were taking their IVF doctor to court because they ended up two babies instead of one? It was a story that set tongues flapping around the country, with people, both gay and straight, calling the pair ‘ungrateful’.
The women have just lost their battle to sue obstetrician Dr Sydney Robert Armellin for $400,000 – the amount of money that it will cost to raise one of the twin girls. They were sueing the doctor for medical negligence, however the court found that the negligence rested with the women, because they were not specific about how many embryos they wanted inserted.
The identity of the women cannot be revealed due to a suppression order. The Daily Telegraph today reported that they were deeply disappointed with the verdict.
