Not Enough Support For Mardi Gras' AGM
While Mardi Gras’ 3oth anniversary season was hailed a success, recent events have raised concerns about a lack of community support when it comes to the governance and day to day running of the organisation.
Last month Mardi Gras announced that there wouldn’t be an election for board members because there weren’t enough nominations from interested parties.
In addition, Saturday’s Annual General Meeting had to be postponed because of a lack of numbers. Given that there was to be no election at the AGM, and therefore no voting, perhaps members felt that there was little reason to be there?
The AGM will now be held this Wednesday at 6pm at New Mardi Gras headquarters, 297 Trafalgar St, Petersham, just a stone’s throw from Petersham station.
In other Mardi Gras news, those who are keen to be a part of the 2009 Festival season must submit their applications by September 26. Mardi Gras is also looking for someone to fill the newly created role of Executive Assistant To The General Manager.
