Teacher Learns Hard Lesson

A senior teacher at exclusive Sydney school Pittwater High has handed in his resignation after students googled him and found his profile on a gay hook up site, which contained naked photos, a description of his genitals and a detailed list of his sexual proclivities.

The teacher, who had been there for fifteen years, made the mistake of having the same username for both the sex site, as well as an educational site. According to The Manly Daily he logged into the educational site during a presentation to students and the username was there on the overhead projector for all to see. All it took was for a curious student to google the word.

The profile described the man as a 40 year old cuddly bear looking for fuck buddy / friend for fun.

“I am happily partnered just looking to spice things up a little with a fuck buddy,” says the profile. ”[I] prefer hairy chubby men but don’t get [too] hung up on it. I like men on the larger side older or younger is cool – not into twinks. Love facial hair.”

A student alerted the school principal to the matter last Friday.

It’s worth remembering that while it may feel private, the internet is often a very public place indeed.

Hah, this would happen to me if I was a teacher, so glad I'm not, I make no bones about my sexuality or net persona, if you find out shit you don't want to know about me that's your tough luck lol At least the kids got some education, they were exposed to the concept of gay subculture in the form of Bear identification. Unfortunately the little shits are probably minus a half decent teacher. I had an English Teacher in Year 8 that I knew was Gay, and everyone else assumed was, the difference was I was mates with his Real Estate agent and so privy to his home life. Things get out one way or another it's not just the internet, it comes down to putting a human face on things and respecting privacy where it is warranted.

I'm quite impressed with the support readers from the Daily Telegraph have given him on the readers comments section online. I thought it would have been quite the scandal for them, but majority all seem to be on his side which is great to see!

Kids do to darnedest things, don't they?! I read somewhere that the generation Y or Z are quite accepting of different sides of the same person due to facebook etc. Unlike the oldies, they apparently accept a clean cut professional having a darker private side as 'normal'. I wonder what the kids thought? Did any of them appologise for what they've done?

1 Pittwater House [ a private school ] not Pittwater High [ a state school] 2 Surely as it was a gay hook up site then the under 18 year old kids who looked it up are the ones who should be reprimanded not the poor teacher

The Staff Selection Criteria for teachers at Pittwaster, I mean, Pittwater House includes: 7. YOU ARE ACTIVELY ENGAGED MEMBERS OF THE WHOLE SCHOOL, YOUR PROFESSION AND THE WIDER COMMUNITY. I should have thought the teacher was doing just that ;>P
